Plant Shopping With Clients

For many people a regular garden centre can be a bewildering place, in which it is tempting to spend a lot of money! Many of my clients have random plants dotted around their gardens as a result of spur of the moment purchasing. Sometimes they are purchased without really knowing where they are going to live, what soil or aspect they need, or what could be planted with them to create an interesting effect.

When I work with clients from the start of their garden planning, we are able to assess the garden and what’s needed, come up with a list of potential plants and then go shopping with intention AND the confidence of a plan!

Local trade nurseries specialise in offering high quality plants at reasonable prices, likely to be below the equivalent cost in a retail garden centre. The plants are often grown on site by expert nursery workers, or can be imported to a specification.

I often take clients along on plant-buying trips to the local trade nurseries. It’s a chance to see plants in real life with many options and sizes to choose from, to suit a range of budgets. Once you have chosen your treasured plants, I can also arrange ground preparation and planting to suit you.
