My clients wanted to escape the gloom of overbearing evergreens and old trees in their tired garden and instead introduce more manageable planting and a wow factor in their borders. With full-time jobs and boisterous dogs, the clients needed planting that was low maintenance, and fairly resilient.
The planting plans focused on repeating smaller trees through the space to create more unity; introducing wall climbers to break up but not cover the newly painted fence; and then blend well-behaved evergreen shrubs with seasonal perennials to give the clients something of interest all through the year.
With a low-cost irrigation system for the sunnier border to reduce time spent watering, the initial late Spring planting is quickly establishing to the delight of the clients.
With thanks to George Hugh Landscape Contractors for their help with clearing, soft landscaping and planting.
